‘Pay What You Decide’ for EXPERIMENTICA 2017

Chapter Arts Centre have announced that for this year’s Experimentica all tickets will be Pay What You Decide.

Experimentica, which will be taking place from Wednesday 29 March to Sunday 2 April, is an annual programme of genre defying experimental arts from home and abroad: an opportunity for audiences to experience new trends in contemporary performance and for artists to try out new ideas that speak to a world beyond the mainstream. Chapter’s Creative Producer Cathy Boyce comments:

“We’re really proud of our festival and want as many people as possible to experience it, so this year, as an experiment, we have made the entire festival Pay What You Decide. If you’re intrigued by a show description but not sure you’re going to like you can reserve a ticket and pay AFTER you’ve seen the show. If pay day is far away and you’re a bit short of cash – no problem. As this year’s festival is curated around ideas of language and codes that exclude, we felt it particularly apt to remove as many barriers as possible for potential audiences.“

The title of this year's festival is Secret Language. Festival organisers Chapter asked artists to think about class, cool and secret codes. Artspeak, textspeak and slang. Who gets to choose what’s in and what’s out? What are the invisible languages that govern our lives? The festival presents work from young emerging artists alongside established artists and was curated following an open submissions process.
